Forging her future

Diversity

In October 2019, Caren Mbogo was in her home country of Kenya contemplating her next move.

Having already established her own business and fledgling career in turf and landscape by the age of 25, she wanted to take things further.

She wasn’t to know a phone call from her friend Maureen was about to lead to an opportunity she had to take.

Maureen, herself a superintendent in Nairobi, had returned from the Golf Industry Show in the United States earlier in the year and told Caren about The Ohio Program at Ohio State University.

After learning more about the program and the opportunity to intern at some of the finest golf courses in the United States, Caren moved quickly to complete her application.

Now an intern at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Virginia, Caren talks about her journey, her experiences and her hopes for the future.
